The Milestone Experience
That sweet newborn stage quickly came and went, and now you have a cute, alert, happy little baby that is ready to take on the world! Babies are incredible… within the first year of a baby’s life, they go through so much transition, so much growth and learning. As a Central New Jersey Milestone Baby Photographer, it’s amazing to see how quickly babies can learn a new task. From holding their heads up to laughing hysterically at a game of peek-a-boo, baby photography is so important to freeze those moments in time like 1st birthday cake smash sessions!
As a baby photographer, I love being able to follow my little clients as they grow. The most popular times to document in a baby’s life are these: the newborn stage, three months, six months and one year. Three to four months is typically the age where babies begin to let out cute, little laughs on purpose. Eye contact is a big deal, and they are able to hold their heads up quite a bit more than in the weeks prior. Baby sessions at this stage, including the Chinese tradition of photographing baby to celebrate his or her 100th day of life, are often captured in the studio, where baby can be comfortable laying down on soft blankets, baby props and beanbags for tummy-time style images. Sessions can also be held outdoors, but at this age, mom or dad will be doing a lot of baby-holding to keep baby happy and comfortable.
Six to nine months is a great age to photograph. Babies at this age are learning to sit on their own, laugh a little harder and keep focus a bit more. These sitter milestone baby photography sessions can take place either outside or in the studio, as baby will be able to handle sitting (assisted with props or on his/her own) in both environments.
The 1st year portrait session is also a great one. Baby is learning to stand (assisted) and is starting to discover new and exciting things in his/her environment. This is a great age to capture baby in studio or outdoors with a few age-appropriate props & of course celebrate surviving the 1st year with cake - the smash & splash sessions are one of the most popular choices during baby's 1st year!

3, 6, 9 months, one year, and all those months in between… every milestone deserves to be celebrated!
Milestone sessions are perfect for tummy time, sitter stage, baptism portraits & of course birthdays!
After the newborn stage baby's personality really starts to come out around 3/4 months old making them giggly & oh so cute. Then by 6-8 months they are so proud and happy to just sit there & smile making it one of the best times to capture perfect baby portraits of your non-mobile baby!
Plus I can't get enough of adorable themed birthday parties! This is a super fun way to get unique, creative and unforgettable photos of your little bundle of joy! Setting up a cake smash photo session usually requires a lot of work. But the result is always worth it!

1. Say Hello
Cake Smash sessions are typically scheduled M/Th/F afternoons or Sat/Sun if a weekend is needed.
You will decide on length of session & any add on like Smash & splash or family photos.
Together, we will come up with a super fun theme or color scheme for your little one’s session. From colors to outfits, we will work together to come up with just the perfect setup for such a special day. I have a ton of banners and backdrops in different colors to match or compliment the color scheme you have chosen.
I like to keep things relatively simple, to keep focus on baby, and the end result is a timeless, fun and happy set of images to remember this time in baby's life.
2. Schedule it
If you don’t want the full smash and splash you can tailor the shoot to your requirements & theme depending on the milestone we're capturing.
There are so many themes to choose from here are just a few….. Princess, Little Prince, Sun, Moon & Stars, Safari, Wild one, Jungle, Mickey/Minnie Mouse, Florals, Rainbows, Vintage, Dunkin', Italian, Tacos, Pinks, Blues, Golds, Pastel the list is endless….
Don’t have a particular theme or colors in mind? There are so many creative ideas for cake smash photos. And don’t worry, I will set it all up for you, outfits, backgrounds, props etc… Just bring the baby, cake, & a towel (for smash & splash session).
3. Planning it
Depending on the milestone we're capturing will depend on the recommended length of session, background choices what to bring,
Smash & Splash sessions are special occasions that are three photoshoots in one. Have a photoshoot of your baby in an outfit of your choice (or 2), smash a cake and then have some photographs taken in a baby tub, while they enjoy splashing about.
Other sessions like for tummy time, sitter or baptism portraits will be much more laid back & maybe simple solid colored backgrounds and little to no props are best for those types of session.
Always brings a favorite toy, snack, & bottle/sippy cup. A prep guide will be sent out prior to certain session types like cake smash sessions.
4. Your Session
Within 10 days of our session you will receive a proofing gallery via email for you to browse & choose your favorite images from. This proof gallery will be unedited & will include all the usable images we captured during your session.
You will have 1 week to decide on your favorite images and once I receive those choices the editing process will begin.
Your final gallery will be sent via email within 2 weeks later which is when you will choose the heirloom products you'd like to own & proudly display wether in albums, wall art, or folio boxes.
